Roatan, Honduras and Bananarama Dive Resort

Its that time of the year when that first Nor'easter hits and you say, "Screw it! I'm going south!"  I do it every year!  I love the Caribbean! One of my favorite activities to do down there is go Scuba Diving.
The place that I have been recommending to many people lately is Roatan, Honduras.  Roatan is about 30 miles off the coast of the main land of Honduras and is the largest of the Bay Islands.  Roatan is great for diving, and also if you are a getting certified it is the perfect place.  The visibility is great, the currents are calm, and the price is right on.
I recommend staying in West End.  It is the tourist area of the island, which I sometimes stay away from. Although when it comes to the dive shops and places to stay, it's the best option.
There is a little dive shop I found on the island called Bananarama.  The shop has lodging, great prices, and amazing staff!  Its right on the beach!  All you have to do is grab your gear and walk in for a shore dive, or just jump on a boat for a very quick trip to one of the beautiful reefs off shore.
Continental, United, and Delta all have direct flights from the hubs in the US.

Underwater shot was made with a great Canon point and shoot and the Canon brand waterproof houseing.  The houseing is depth rated to 40 meters.  The links are beloew for the camera and housing at Amazon.

Clinton Street Bakery

I do not eat breakfast out that much in Manhattan, although when I do its Clinton Street Bakery.  Clinton Street Bakery is located on well you guessed it Clinton street and East Houston on the lower east side.  The wait is long and the place is small, although I can't tell you how many times I have heard when people sit down "It was worth the wait."  If you decide to venture out on a weekend morning after 10am you will wait anywhere from 1 hour to 2 hours for a table. It sounds crazy although if you put your name it and come back an hour later they will still hold your place in line, although if they call and you are not available outside you will miss your chance.  I will suggest for the adventurous ones that you arrive at 8:30am for a 9am seating, most likely this will guarantee you a seat shortly after they open the doors at 9am on the weekends.  I hear the wait is shorter on the week days in the am, although due to the overwhelming popularity of this place you will still most like wait.
All I have said you are thinking why should I eat here when its CASH ONLY, a long wait, and small quarters? The Blueberry Pancakes are most likely the best you have ever had! The sugar cured bacon also deserves and honorable mention and the Grits for all you folks north of the Mason Dixon line also compare the some of the best I have ever had, and I am from the south.  Enjoy! Post any comments below if you have questions. I will include links to the google maps, bakery website, and yelp link below.
